Currently, two contests will commence on Saturday, November 21st and ending on December 22nd, 2009.
CONTEST 1: X-MEN NATION DATABASE
How much do you know about your favorite character? Put your knowledge to the test by creating wiki entries on your favorite characters in X-Men Nation's own Database. Our aim is to have the most extensive database on X-Men characters, comic books, films, writers and artists written by real X-Men fans. Winners will be chosen based on the following criteria:
- The number of wiki entries created
- The "completeness" of the entry. Is it up to date? Does it have all those details only true X-Fans would know?
- The length of the entry. For example, Wolverine's wiki entry in the database is naturally going to be larger than Trance's or Hellion's. Choosing a character with a long history will get you further in the competition.
- Citations. In order to make sure the information you're giving is accurate, provide citations to the comic and issue number.
Database wiki entries don't only have to be about characters. They can also be about teams, publication histories for comic books as well as bios on writers, artists or editors; you can even write an entry on a particular "mutant power" like telepathy for example.
CONTEST 2: Best Fan Fiction
Members of X-Men Nation aren't like members on other comic book sites. See our Mission Statement and About page for more information on that. More than just fans, our keen insights into themes and metaphors of X-Men comics make us artists in our own right. And now, it's time to create!
X-Men Nation introduces X-Men Nation Fan Fiction. Write a complete story about a team or character from the X-Men in any Marvel Universe. Make sure to tell us the circumstances; when it takes place, which universe (for example: Earth 616), and what time period.
Your story must:
- have a beginning, middle and end
- take the character or characters on an emotional journey in which they end up different from how they started
- contain at least one X-Men character already established in the history of X-Men comics
- contain more than 500 words
- not necessarily be well-written grammar wise, but well thought out and imaginative!
The winner will be selected by a select group of X-Men Nation Staff experienced in the art of writing, but don't forget to respond to the post of your favorite piece of fan fiction. Usually, the piece of fiction with the most responses and replies will the winner.
