Magneto - Mutant of the Month Mar 08

MagnetoI have to admit when I first heard there was going to be a major cross over event featuring all the X-Titles that was called "Messiah Complex," I naturally assumed, like most people, that the person with the messiah complex was one of three people; Sinister, Apocalypse or Magneto.  He was the first villian of the X-Men and their most famous foe and it looks like it's taken Professor X to get a bullet in the head for Magneto to make his triumphant return.  We look forward to all the drama to come.

Professor X - Mutant of the Month Feb 08

XavierRight when it seemed that Professor X had became an almost undeemable character the writer's of the X-Books did the one thing that would redeem him in one foul swoop. They killed him.  Well, sort of...

The Prof is back in X-Men Legacy building his mind back from the brink of death one lego at a time.  Suddenly, after sending a second team of X-Men to their deaths and using his powers to cover up any memories of it, creating a slave being of artificial intelligence and oppressing it, and becoming half of one of the most bad ass villians Marvel Comics has ever seen, the Prof is looking like a pretty good guy again.  Memories of a man who took in and great care of all these people and yet kept striving for a dream of a better world return to us and his fellow X-Men finally putting Xavier on the front burner and converting an X-Title into his own.  Good luck Professor.

Cable - Mutant of the Month Jan 08

CableApparently Telekinesis wasn't the only thing Nathan Dayspring Summers inherited from his mother Madelyn Pryor, a clone of Jean Grey.  Cable just added self resurrection to his list of growing powers.  Just when it seemed he'd worn out his welcome, the writers of Messiah Complex found a brilliant way to breathe new life into this character .  They put him right in between the various factions vying over the first mutant birth since decimation.  So far, in his first month back, he battled Bishop, two-timed the X-Men by aligning himself with Professor Xavier, managed to grab a baby from a cess pool of fighting Marauders and Purifiers, and still had a tearful moment with his father, Cyclops, that abruptly lead to the near Death of Professor X.  Wow!  What a re-entrance!  Just when you thought Cable was a 90's superhero, he dies and comes back to pave the way for the heroes of the 21st Century.

Skids - Mutant of the Month Dec 07

SkidsIt's been a long time since Sally Blevins has been hot.  Since about the time she lost the love of her life, Rusy Collins, who had the ability to manipulate fire, actually.  Time, however, has been kind to her moving her to a pivotal role in pre-Messiah Complex Uncanny X-Men where she pulled a "Nina Myers" ala FOX's 24 on the Morlocks when she revealed herself to be an undercover agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.  If that wasn't a comeback enough Sally turned on them to show the copy of Destiny's Diaries she and the X-Men risked their lives to get a hold of to Magneto, being the first to tell him that in the future he too would play a pivotal role and that he would do so as homo superior.

X-Men to Die For: In Memorium

Kitty Pryde on the cover of New Mutants # 63We've all got to grow up sometime.  Kitty Pryde took twenty years to get from adolescence to adulthood thanks to the Marvel Universe sliding time scale, enabling readers with birthdates from the early sixties to the mid eighties to grow up right along with her.  As a mainstay for the X-Men, Kitty has enthralled us, annoyed us, wooed us and touched our hearts.  Replacing Jean Grey as the other female member of the All-New, All Different third team of X-Men, Kitty would eventually meet her own dramatic heartbreaking demise, cementing her place in history as a true member of the X-Men.

How would a normal, everyday teenager react to joining a team with the strangest people of all time on its roster?  That must've been the question Chris Claremont asked himself before he created the legendary Kitty Pryde.  Claremont instinctually knew the X-Men needed a character for its teenage audience to serve as a window to the international cast of heavy weights on the X-Men at the time.  Inspired by the name of a real life Kitty Pryde, Claremont now had a designation for the idea of the every woman that would resonate with fans for generations.

Betsy Braddock: It's Complicated!

Psylocke just after her debut on the cover of Uncanny X-Men # 218

We've all been known to go though one or more changes throughout our lives.  I've been an actor, a producer, a writer, a paralegal, a web designer, a programmer and like most of the X-Men, I'm not even thirty yet!  As I look around at the world, I can't help but to see a human race of evolving peoples, all with different titles, changing names, jobs, etc.  That being said, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH with Psylocke!

Miniseries You Should Never Have Missed

In the new millennium, the miniseries has become an artform in itself.  They serve as a way for writers to further flesh out the characters we love.  Seeing them in a new light brings us a whole new pespective.  With so many miniseries out there, we thought we'd point out a few of our favorites and a few that may have missed the mark.

With new mutants being added to the mix, specifically Tattoo and Greymalkin to Young X-Men, here at X-Men Natiion we thought we'd remind the writers of the X-Books not to forget some of our favorite under used mutants and also remind them and you, the readers, about some great mutants that were created in the history of the X-Men Universe that we think are pretty cool.  These characters would make excellent additions to any X-Team.

X-Men 4 Dream Casting

So a friend and I were talking online about our favorite X-Men characters and the disappointing horror that was X3: The Last Stand (don't worry Brett Ratner, I still watch the movie like everyday) and we asked ourselves what actors we'd cast as our favorite heroes in X4 should there ever be one. Here are some of our picks:
