X-Force:Old Ghosts Review

Written by  Anthony Pelissier

Being an aspiring writer and having read comics for as long as I can remember, I couldn't resist the opportunity to write reviews for the best X-Men fansite around, X-Men Nation.

Old Ghosts collects X-Force issues 7-11.  As we all know, X-Force is Cyclop's "Black Ops" team, doing the missions that the normal X-Men can't or won't do.  Mutants don't kill, but the X-Force sure does.  In this TPB, we see an addition to the X-Force team, Domino.  Wolverine recruits her to help out on the mission where X-Force is tasked with finding The Vanisher, who has stolen a vile of the deadly Legacy Virus.  The mission of attaining the Legacy Virus is the main plot point in this arc and makes for an exciting read.  We are also treated to a side story that follows Warpath's voyage back to his native land and his battle with a demon soul.

Old Ghosts does an excellent job of further introducing the reader to the characters and endearing the reader to them.  This new X-Force team, made up of Wolverine, Angel, X-23, Warpath, Elixir and Domino, is sure to be a fan favorite.  Every character has substance and none of them feel like a throwaway character added just to give numbers to the team.  Kyle and Yost do an excellent job writing each character and giving them personality.  Every X-Fan will be debating which character is most badass, and honestly, there isn't a wrong answer.  Even the weakest character, Elixir, has his own little quirks that will make fans adore him.

In closing, X-Force: Old Ghosts is a must read for X-Fans of all walks of life.  The series is still young, so even if you haven't been reading it, you can pick up the book and get right into the story and characters and not feel like you're missing much.  On a scale of 1-10, I give X-Force: Old Ghosts a solid 9 out of 10!

X-force 2: Old Ghosts

X-Force: Old Ghosts

X-Force is still reeling from the aftermath of their first mission, but there's no rest for the wicked. Mutantkind's enemies have multiplied, but Cyclops has a new target for his black-ops team...and even X-Force doesn't believe who they're going after next! Superstar artists Mike Choi and Sonia Oback are on board as one of the X-Men's oldest foes returns. Collects X-Force #7-11.
