Wolverine Weapon X #7

cover of Wolverine Weapon X #7

When we last saw Logan he was sitting in Dunnwich Sanatorium with the mysterious Dr. Rottwell overseeing his “treatment”. This issue finds us watching the good doctor trying to re-awaken Logan inner Berserker rage. Whoever he is he seems to have knowledge of who Wolverine is and his past. Is there anyway for Wolverine to escape this house of horrors? More importantly who does Logan have to kill to remember who he is?

This issue continues this very interesting Arc of Insane in the Brain. While we are used to Logan remembering who he is, this title continues his Amnesiac condition. The attending physician Dr. Rottwell has been “experimenting on patients and the screams can be heard at night. I have to admit that this new villain gives me a sense of satisfaction; Jason Aaron has given the reader a darker more psychotic villain than expected. Readers will enjoy learning more about the good doctor in this issue. Staying with the winning formula of the series I hope that we can see more of this character in the future. Logan’s narration gives me the same impression as older Wolverine books and Wolverine Origins. It just seems to work well with Jason Aaron’s style as he and artist Yanick Paquette make the overall appearance and tone darker. Sometimes the reader may even think their reading an issue of X-force.

All in all this was a good issue that furthers the plot and gives fans what they want, a mysterious villain and Wolverine’s berserk rage. Wolverine Weapon X sticks to the formula that works, point Logan in a direction and let him loose. What some fans won’t expect is how solid the story and pace of the title is. I enjoyed this issue and can’t wait to read issue #8, I suggest everyone go out and pick this up.
