If you are one of critics who say that there hasn’t been as much action as there should be in Uncanny well this issue is here to prove you wrong. There are literally so many instances where Fraction reassures anybodies doubts about where he’s going that it’s staggering. The first is seeing how far Cyclops has come as a leader in actual battle. He was even able to apply some new strategy that fans of Magneto and fans of Namor going all “imperious Rex!” on an opponent will be happily satisfied. My personal favorite part of this issue was the return of Rogue to the battlefield with her newly controlled powers. She really shows her muscle (along with Greg Land’s solid artwork) and reminds fans that she is still a powerhouse. Greg Land has really stepped up his artwork in Nation X and the end result is quite strong. I know I’ve been really happy with his work for the past few months but now were really starting to see the X-writers and artists “click” together so the final product is really what all X-fans were looking for.
Now I believe we may have gotten sidetracked, this issue is a fight first and foremost. To my knowledge no issue of Uncanny has done more to solidify the “team” factor of our favorite mutants in a few months. I am so impressed in fact that I cannot find a single fault with this issue whatsoever. I found the writing witty yet well timed and the action to be frankly awesome.
So in conclusion Uncanny X-men can only go up from here, staggering strong artwork from Greg Land (and really enjoyed his work on Rogue and as always Emma) and sophisticated and nearly flawless writing from Matt Fraction have led us to the Uncanny promise land. If you aren’t reading Nation X I highly recommend that you go out immediately to experience some of the best work on the title for a while. This book has been thoroughly enjoyable all year long however it feels like the team has really hit their stride at the end of the stretch.

November’s issue of Uncanny starts off with a bang as we find our X-men’s Utopia under attack by not one, but rather five Predator X’s. It’s time to see Matt Fraction, Greg Land and crew serves us up some of the best mutant action in the buisness. And may I certainly say that they more than delivered.
