This month's mutant is a groundbreaking one on many levels. Not only is Miss Sinister the first character to be nominated and win after the first month of her original appearance but she is also the first character to win or be nominated who was originally a different gender! When Mystique's true intentions were revealed during 2008's hit crossover, Messiah Complex, and Mr. Sinister was found lying dead at the feet of Mystique everyone knew it wasn't the last we'd see or hear of Nathaniel Essex. As it turned out, adjectiveless X-Men's trasition into X-Men: Legacy would pit Professor Charles Xavier against Mr. Sinister's very own D.N.A. which he had implanted into Sebastian Shaw, Cain Marko, and Professor Xavier himself. Lucky for them, Gambit stepped in at just the right time and with the help of Sebastian Shaw, Xavier was able to ward off the pieces of Mr. Sinister inside him. For a moment, we all thought that was the last we'd see of the great villain, Sinister, but his last trick up his sleeve was a gender bending clone of himself containing all the personality and genius but none of the memories. Miss Sinister is bound to create drama for the X-Men and her addition as the new Black Queen of the Hellfire Club immediately brings her to the forefront of villains the X-Men need to watch out for. We'll be watching out for her too.
