Jean Grey's reputation for coming back from the dead is legendary
beyond the realm of comics. The real readers know Illyana Rasputin is
quickly earning her own reputation for resurrection. As the little
sister of Colossus, Illyana moved to America soon after her brother
did. At an early age, she was kidnapped by Belasco and taken to Limbo
where she was raised by alternate time line versions of Shadowcat and
Storm. Illyana returned from Limbo almost instantaneously to the eyes
or her brother and fellow New Mutants; but now she was a teenager. Illyana joined the New Mutants in their infancy but felt out of place due to her magical background. As the series progressed, Illyana learned to lose herself in the moment and connect with her teammates by having fun. We, the readers, soon got lost right along with her.
As the New Mutants kept changing, Illyana got transformed back to her younger toddler self before she met Belasco and seemed to fade into obscurity until the groundbreaking Uncanny X-Men #303 where Jean Grey consoles a distraught Jubillee over the death of little Illyana from the Legacy Virus. Like Jean Grey's death at the end of the Dark Phoenix Saga to her resurrection in X-Factor #1, Illyana wouldn't return until ten years later. After House of M, the Scarlet Witch's power somehow revealed Illyana in Limbo; now soulless after all the events that have transpired. Eventually, Illyana was rescured from Limbo only to join the original New Mutants again in the latest volume of their comic.
